The Town Hall Trust has submitted a listed building application to install a toilet and bar area in the Town Hall. Full details can be found on Somerset Council’s website where you can leave supportive comments if you wish. The application number is 49/26/0032/LB.
Our proposal is to install an accessible toilet at the rear of the building in an area currently used for storage. It will be accessed via a new corridor carved from the current green room which in turn will be accessed from the ’round room’ that we use for serving drinks.

The works will need us to install a water supply to the Town Hall for the first time in decades. We’re working with the Coop to connect to their services on the ground floor.
The completed works will enable us to do so much more in the building. Having a toilet will make life much more comfortable for lots of people and a water supply to a bar will enable us to provide refreshments much more effectively than we can at the moment.
The works will require the help of a plumber and electrician but also lots of carpentry, plastering and decorating. To reduce the environmental impact of the works as much as we can we are hoping to source reclaimed / second hand materials wherever possible, and to use volunteers to do some of the work. If you have the right skills and are interested in helping out, please let us know via our volunteer form.
