Ceiling repairs complete
Repairs to the ceiling at the Town Hall have been completed. The ceiling had been damaged by rain penetration in the 1990s leaving areas of missing lath and plaster and damaged cornice at the front of the main hall. Elsewhere there were cracks in the plasterwork that needed closer inspection and remediation. Photo shoot at Town Hall
Photographer Scarlett Whelan conducted a photo shoot at Wiveliscombe Town Hall for her upcoming graduation exhibition at Leeds Arts University, inspired by Carl Jung’s concept of the Shadow Self. This theory explores the repressed and rejected aspects of our personalities that we often hide from both ourselves and society. Jung suggested that these hidden elements will eventually surface, and it is essential to confront them rather than suppress them. The Town Hall’s rooms provided an ideal backdrop for this exploration.…

Wiveliscombe Library joins Town Hall Trust
From April 1st the Town Hall Trust took over the management of Wiveliscombe Community Library. We have entered into a seven year arrangement that secures funding and support from Wiveliscombe Town Council and library services from Somerset Council. For the past seven years the library has been managed by Wiveliscombe Area Partnership who we thank for their dedicated work over the last seven years that has kept the library open. The lights came on
It was lovely to see so many people come up to the Town Hall during the switch-on of the Christmas Lights in Wivey on Friday 28th November. Plans for Christmas and 2026
Since turning the Hall’s lights back on in 2023 we have sold over 1,000 tickets to theatre, cinema, comedy and music events. Thank you so much for sticking with us and for bringing your enthusiasm (and warm jumpers) to our events – we really appreciate it. Funding from Town Council
Great news. Wiveliscombe Town Council has given the Trust up to £42,500 for repairs to the ceiling, to provide a chair-lift to improve accessibility, redecoration of the stairway and installation of a water supply, toilet and kitchen. This will make a big difference and will allow us to improve the building and transforming the Hall into an arts centre for the people of Wiveliscombe and surrounding areas. Wolf Witch Giant Fairy
On Thursday 30 October Wiveliscombe Town Hall will be screening the film of Little Bulb and the Royal Opera House’s production of Wolf Witch Giant Fairy.
